Arklow Golf Club
About Arklow Golf Club
Arklow Golf Club occupies a traditional links setting on the County Wicklow coast, with dune-framed fairways and the Irish Sea close to the playing ground. The club was established in 1927, with early design work attributed to Hawtree and Taylor and later changes involving Eddie Hackett and Eddie Connaughton. Coastal breezes, firm ground and the changing angles of the holes shape the round, making it a different experience from inland parkland courses. The club welcomes visitors and organised groups, offers professional golf services and provides a base for members and open competitions. Its location near Arklow makes it a distinctive stop for east-coast golf.
Course Information
Arklow’s 18-hole links was originally laid out by Hawtree and Taylor, with subsequent work by Eddie Hackett and Eddie Connaughton. The course moves through sand dunes close to the Irish Sea, mixing naturally shaped fairways, shifting wind and changing ground conditions. Accurate positioning off the tee and controlled approaches are often more valuable than raw distance. It is a traditional coastal test that can feel very different from one visit to the next, particularly when exposed holes play into a sea breeze.
