Ashfield Golf Course
About Ashfield Golf Course
Ashfield Golf Course is an 18-hole parkland venue on Cregganduff Road in the South Armagh countryside, near Newry. The course opened in September 1990 after development of former farmland by the Quinn family, with its layout designed by Frank Ainsworth. Over the years, extensive tree planting, additional lakes and improvements to tees and greens have helped shape the character of the round. The course is known for individually named holes, including Fáilte at the start and Slán Abhaile at the finish. Members, visiting golfers and societies are welcomed, and the club also supports junior coaching and an active competition calendar.
Course Information
Ashfield’s 18-hole, par-69 parkland course measures 5,620 yards on its current published card. Designed by Frank Ainsworth, it crosses rolling South Armagh ground with tree-lined fairways, lakes and a mixture of shorter and longer holes. Each hole has its own name: the round opens with Fáilte and ends at Slán Abhaile. The par-five ninth, The Drumlins, and the testing seventeenth, Bruach na h-Abhna, are among the holes highlighted on the club’s official hole-by-hole guide.
