Balbriggan Golf Club
About Balbriggan Golf Club
Balbriggan Golf Club is a long-established parkland venue in north County Dublin, founded in 1945 and located a short drive from the M1 and Dublin Airport. Its course underwent a major redesign in 2009 under Eddie Connaughton, introducing USGA-style greens and a layout that uses mature trees, water and natural contours. The club has a substantial local membership, but it also welcomes visitors and golf societies, with online tee-time booking and organised competitions. A fully stocked professional shop, practice areas, PGA coaching and clubhouse dining support the 18-hole course. Balbriggan appeared at number 100 in Irish Golfer’s independently published 2026 course rankings.
Course Information
Balbriggan’s modern parkland layout was shaped by an Eddie Connaughton redesign completed around 2009. Mature evergreens, pronounced contours and water hazards offer a varied 18-hole test, with the water affecting several holes. The redevelopment incorporated sand-based greens and tees built to USGA standards, while the routing rewards golfers who can shape tee shots and control approach distances. The club’s online course tour includes information and images for individual holes. Its inclusion in Irish Golfer’s 2026 Top 100 offers independent recognition of the course’s design and presentation.
