Connemara Golf Club
About Connemara Golf Club
Connemara Golf Links stands on a remote Atlantic headland at Ballyconneely in County Galway, west of Clifden. Designed by Eddie Hackett, the original 18-hole championship links opened in 1973 and later gained a separate nine-hole C9 course, giving golfers 27 holes in total. The course lies between coastal dunes, rugged rock and the Twelve Bens mountain backdrop. The exposed setting and changing wind are central to the challenge, especially on the elevated back nine and the renowned par-three thirteenth. Connemara welcomes visiting golfers throughout the year, with a professional shop, driving range, club hire, caddies and hospitality facilities. Its championship course continues to appear in independent Irish course rankings.
Course Information
Connemara’s Championship Course is an 18-hole links designed by Eddie Hackett, following natural dunes and rugged coastal ground with views towards the Atlantic and the Twelve Bens. Its back nine climbs through more elevated terrain, with wind and changes in contour influencing the test. A separate nine-hole course, known as the Sea 9 or C9, offers a shorter round with its own routing.
