Grow Golf Membership Types Explained
Golf memberships across Ireland and Northern Ireland often differ from club to club — with varying age brackets, definitions, and conditions. To help golfers compare membership options more easily, Grow Golf has created standard membership categories so users can see comparable options side by side. Below is a brief description of each:
- Full 7 Day Membership – Unlimited golf access to the course every day of the week. Usually the most expensive type of membership. Perfect for regular players.
- 5 Day Membership – Unlimited golf access Monday to Friday only. Perfect for players who prefer weekdays.
- 6 Day Membership – Similar to 5 day but access on Sundays also.
- Intermediate – Membership that sits between Junior and full membership. Usually offers a reduced rate for players aged between 18-40. Not all clubs offer intermediate memberships and the ages and pricing structure can vary a lot between clubs.
- Senior – Discounted memberships for senior players (typically over 65 years old). Sometimes only available to players who have been a full member at the club for a number of years.
- Junior – Memberships for ages 18 and under. Usually at a much lower price but often come with restrictions.
- Student – Membership for young adults (typically 18-25 years old) still in full time education. Normally requires student ID card.
- New/Beginners – These are special offer memberships for players who have either never held an official GUI golf handicap or never been a member of a club. Usually only last 1 to 3 years before converting to full membership.
- Pay and Pay – Often referred to as flexible membership but not widely available across many clubs. These are usually significantly discounted and are a points/credit based membership. The player is allocated a starting credit which is then reduced as they play rounds. Additional credits can normally be added on. This is typically the most affordable membership for those who want flexibility and an official golf handicap.
At Grow Golf we have added as much detail as we can find regarding each membership at each club so you can make the best choice for your membership but you should always confirm with the Golf Club before purchasing any memberships.

FAQ
What are the main types of golf memberships?
The most common membership types are Full, 5-Day, Flexible, Junior, and Country memberships. Each type offers different playing access, pricing, and eligibility, so you can choose what best fits your schedule and budget.
How does a flexible or pay & play golf membership work?
Flexible memberships let golfers pay for credits or points instead of an annual fee. You can use these credits to book rounds, offering a cost-effective option for those who play less frequently.
What’s the difference between a full and 5-day membership?
A full membership gives you 7-day access to the course, while a 5-day membership usually covers Monday to Friday. Many golfers choose 5-day memberships for lower costs and weekday flexibility.
Do all golf clubs offer the same membership types?
No. Each club decides which membership categories it provides. To make comparison easier, Grow Golf groups memberships into consistent categories so users can compare similar options across different clubs.
Can I compare membership types across different clubs?
Yes. Grow Golf lets you browse by membership type — for example, viewing all 5-day or flexible memberships across Ireland and Northern Ireland — so you can quickly see which club offers the best fit for you.
